Goreme is the heart of Cappadocia with its magical fairy chimney rock formations and cave churches. This gives the Goreme national park UNESCO world heritage status.
 

Hot air balooning is the best way to see this unique landscape. Other amenities in the village include horse riding, quad-bike and mountain bike tracks.  Goreme is home to the open air museum which houses some of the best preserved early Christian cave churches. 

Tour companies in the village arrange daily tours of other sites in the area such as the Ilhara valley and the underground cities.  There are a number of wineries in the area which welcome visitors and Avanos (a few minutes by road) is famous for its potteries.

Goreme has the best central location for any visit to the area and has a host of restaurants and shops selling Turkish carpets and village crafts. The house is located in the upper part of the village, boasting spectacular views and is surrounded by local homes still practicing a traditional way of life.
